Carboxytherapy – innovation in treatment of stretch marks, alternative for liposuction

We know that taking care of a beautiful look never ends. We try to take care of our health and beauty during the whole life – we would like to look attractive and like ourselves. We do not always have time to eat properly, excersise or perform treatments. Weather conditions, stress and time are not our allies. At the aesthetic medicine centre Fabskin we help our patients every day in order to improve damages or undo changes which are not beneficial for our beauty. We keep current with new methods of aesthetic medicine and beauty and can suggest our patients very effective dermatological treatments. One of them is carboxytherapy, which gains its popularity on the West.

What exactly is carboxytherapy?

Carboxytherapy treatment is based on cutaneous and subcutaneous administration of carbon dioxide. This method gives excellent results in treatment of scars and cellulite. This therapy is totally safe, there are no side effects which could appear during the treatment. Carbon dioxide is a natural component of our environment. We breathe it out and plants take it and deliver oxygen instead which in turn we breathe in. And this is how the process is developed. When we breathe oxygen in our lungs, red blood cells take it and transport it to the tissues, it reaches all our body on the cellular level. Our body works continuously, and the result of this work is carbon dioxide.

Carboxytherapy is a treatment of injecting active components inside the skin, including CO2. Carbon dioxide is administrated immediately under the skin surface by small sterile needles in order to increase blood circulation in a particular skin area. A lot of beauty problems are caused by a weak microcirculation. There are a lot of reasons why this happens, it may depend on stressful way of life, food rich in fat and carbohydrates, lack of physical exercise in our life. Effectiveness of carboxytherapy is based on a scheme of oxygen circulation in the body. Red cells transport oxygen and reach all the cells delivering it where carbon dioxide is present, which is a side product of cells’ activity. When oxygen is delivered to these cells, microcirculation improves in this area. Good microcirculation guarantees fast removal of toxins from the cells, it does not allow them to overgrow and deform – this is the way of treating or preventing stretch marks and cellulite.

Who is recommended to undergo carboxytherapy?

Carboxytherapy is recommended to the majority of adult patients. We recommend a series of treatment to people who have problems with:

  • Red stretch marks
  • Orange peel
  • Cellulite
  • Obesity
  • Subcutaneous deposits
  • Prevention and treatment of baldness
  • Reduction of bruises and under eye bags
  • Wrinkles removal
  • Unification of skin tone
  • Improvement of skin structure and density

Contraindications of carboxytherapy include:

  • Corticosteroid treatment
  • Treatment with antithrombotic medicications
  • Active skin allergies
  • Sites of botox injections
  • Diabetes
  • Pregnancy and the period of breastfeeding

The treatment lasts from 15 to 30 minutes and you do not need any specific preparation. For the patient’s comfort at the aesthetic medicine centre Fabskin in Warsaw we apply anesthetic medical gel on the injection site. After the treatment there are no marks. Some patients may have small redness or bruises which disappear spontaneously after a few hours. However, during 1 or 2 days after the treatment it is not recommended to have hot baths and excessive physical exercise. Immediately after the treatment patients may get back to their everyday activities.

Effects of carboxytherapy

Carboxytherapy is a safe treatment and is based on subcutaneous administration of carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide quickly reaches the cells and informs the red cells that this area requires more oxygen. The CO2
delivered during the treatment gets naturally removed from the body while breathing out. The treatment is maximally natural and it is not connected with any complications

The treatment may be applied at any part of the body and face, even at soft and sensitive areas where any other aesthetic treatment is not possible.

The treatment should be repeated 6 to 12 times every 7 days. Everything depends on the problem. Our medical experts will adjust the best therapy schedule for you.

The skin after the treatment:

  • It is noticeably smoother and firmer
  • It has even colour
  • It is denser and well-nourished
  • Cellulite is noticeably reduced
  • Red stretch marks disappear
  • Wrinkles become smoother and are reduced
  • Subcutaneous deposits are eliminated
  • Double chin disappears
  • Certain body parts become slimmer

Some problems have a tendency to recurrences, that is why carboxytherapy can be repeated every year.

Carboxytherapy and supplementary treatment

At the aesthetic medicine centre Fabskin, we combine carboxytherapy’s efficiency with supplementary treatment in order to obtain more spectacular effects. In fighting with cellulite we also perform mesotherapy. Additionally, we carry out DERMAPEN or fractional laser therapy on problematic areas so that to regenerate the face skin. This treatment is also helpful in baldness treatment. Carboxytherapy is also combined with acid therapies in order to eliminate photoaging of the skin and strong discolorations.
